The SONSIEL (Society of Nurse Scientists, Innovators, Entrepreneurs & Leaders) UN Immersion Program 2026 is a transformative, multi-day program at the heart of UN Headquarters in NYC. Designed to empower nurses as global health advocates and leaders, this experience provides direct engagement with the United Nations ecosystem, global health policy, and international nursing innovation.

In-Person Track
Experience the UN on-the-ground in New York City. Walk the halls, experience exhibits and installations first-hand, and pop into the post office of the only non-state entity in the world. Engage in immersive sessions and benefit from in-person networking opportunities that connect nursing and healthcare leadership to global advocacy!
Virtual Track
Designed to bring the UN experience to you, join virtually from anywhere in the world! A guide will take you on a virtual journey through the UN history, answering questions along the way. Access live sessions, interactive discussions, and connect globally.

Pre-Immersion Orientation
● Self-study modules introducing you to the UN ecosystem, language, and organizational foundations.
Immersion Highlights
● A guided UN Headquarters tour and curated briefings from UN entity representatives exploring the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and its work in peace, security, and human rights.
● UN 101 & 201: Deep dives into the UN Charter and its overlap with nursing code of ethics & citizen diplomacy.
● Advocacy & Activism for nursing & CSOs / NGOs
● Pathways to Participation
● Interactive sessions with nurse leaders on global health policy and tech innovation.
● Thematic sessions integrating global nursing advocacy with science, innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership at local, national, and global levels.
● Action plans to amplify awareness.
● Networking/social events to bolster your connections and opportunities.
Post-Immersion (Optional Add-On)
● ‘Hack the SDGs’ – an immersive Innovation Sprint ‘Hackathon’ experience designed to empower nurses with design thinking and innovation skills to develop solutions supporting the work of the UN and its SDGs.
